Finally!
So, looking back over old posts, I started this quilt back in October. It was a completed quilt top before Halloween. Then, the first trimester of pregnancy plus the holidays hit, and it's just taken me awhile to get my feet back under me. But, we're finally getting back into the swing of things, and this quilt is finished! Yea! I found inspiration here, here, and here when planning this quilt out. I loved it at the beginning, grew really tired of it during the four months it sat in my front room, and then fell in love again when I finished it this morning. I might even be liking it so much that I repeat it a little larger for New Baby. We'll see. Enjoy!

One day...
One of these days, I'm planning on redoing our bedroom. And hopefully before we buy a house within the next two years. This is the quilt I've had my eye on at Target. The green is better in person.
And this is the fabric I want to use with it. It's from a line called Nature-ology by Studio E. I already have a piece of the first blue one and it looks awesome with the quilt. I'm thinking throw pillows and small wall coverings for over our bed? And of course a nap quilt for me :) Now if only I can make my budget find room for this...

Quilts
While everyone else in the family has been sick (even Chad came down with something and stayed home from work three days this week), I've been busy finishing the Neptune quilt. Now I just need to get it to its new home :)

And then I started the next quilt. The piecing and basting are done - all it needs is quilting and binding. Hopefully I can be so productive next week, with everybody feeling better too.

Sunday, so far
Emily hasn't been feeling well for the past couple of days. It's probably just from the immunization shots she received at her 1 year appointment a week ago, but just to be on the safe side, we skipped church today. I'd hate to find out it was something else after we'd been and she'd infected the ward. And it would just have been mean to her. Anyway, we watched lots of KBYU this morning and saw Uncle Mike in the crowd at a BYU devotional, hung out in our pajamas all day, and cut and pinned lots of fabric! I've finished cutting the fabric, and the first round of pinning is all done. Tomorrow I get to drag out the old sewing machine and get to work putting this all together. Yea! Here's what it all looks like so far, with much better colors than the last pictures.

And, this is Nathan, dressed up like a fireman with his firetruck and his firetruck doggie. Yes, firemen do wear boots, but usually not their mom's knee-high ones.

And the winner is...
Option #1!
This is the one I secretly wanted, and other than my parents, everyone else agreed too. Mom and dad, I do love you, and the square quilt goes to the next baby. Here are the specific fabrics I've picked out, and as soon as I wrap up blogging, putting away the groceries, tidying the house, and taking a nap, I get to start cutting. I'm getting very, very excited :)

It's quilting time again :)
I'm finally caught up around the house, so of course, it's time to take on another project! I'm going to be making another quilt, this time for a new baby in the ward. I'm going to be using these fabrics from the Neptune collection by Tula Pink. You can see the entire collection here.
Now my big dilemna is what to do with this lovely fabric. I have two options between which I've been debating, and I'd love your opinions as to which way I should go.
Option #1 - 6 x 8" rectangles made with a center 2 x 4" strip with 2" sashing around. I'll be using white the same way this quilt does.
Option #2 - 8 1/2" squares made with 4 1/2 " center squares with 2" sashing around. I'll be using white the same way this quilt does again.
They're very similar, just a question of squares with a larger center or rectangles with a narrower center. Any thoughts? I'm excited to get started, but I just can't decide which way to go. Help!
